Hi there. Welcome to my page Saif Travels. This past winter my friends invited me to Trinidad & Tobago for Carnival. If you know anything about Carnival you would know that the carnival on Trinidad is one of the Biggest and Best. Read on to see how we spent our time.
Day 1 – Yard Fete
We arrived in the early morning on a Saturday. After arriving we went to bed before waking up for an early morning yard fete. The yard fete was really fun, there was food, drinks, and live music from some of carnivals most popular artists. In addition the fete allows you to bring a cooler with your own drinks. The food was great, the music was lively, and the drinks were flowing. This was a great way to kick off carnival 2026!
A note for anyone looking to attend the Fete’s in T&T, make sure to buy your tickets ahead of time as they can sell out.
Day 2 – Boat Fete
The next day (Sunday) we had tickets to a boat fete. Similar to the other fete you were allowed to bring your own cooler with your favorite drinks. The boat also served food. In lieu of live music the boat had a DJ. The music was lively and the people were dancing. While the party was going on the boat was cruising around the waters, great views, fun people what more can you ask for!
Day 3 – Road Day 1
Road Day is what the people refer to their parade as. There are trucks, floats, and people in costumes parading through the streets stopping at a few stages along the way to “perform”. The performances are mainly adhoc and not rehearsed unlike the Brazilian Carnival where the performers have a routine. The cool thing about carnival in Trinidad is that anyone can join the road, you just need to buy a costume and join a troupe.
Day 4 – Road Day 2
Road Day 2 was very similar to road day one except the costumes were much more elaborate, this is the day the feathers come out.
Day 5: Tobago Day 1
After four straight days of partying it was time for a different pace. Me and my partner hopped on a short 30 minute flight to Tobago for some R & R at a resort.
Day 6: Tobago Day 2 – Diving
Our second day at the resort we joined a 2 tank dive trip. The marine life around Tobago was beautiful.
Tobago Day 7 – Beach Day
On our last day we met back up with our friends who came over to Tobago on the ferry for the day.
We had a great time in Trinidad and Tobago. Carnival is a once in a lifetime event and Trinidad is a great place to experience it.
