Our 11-Day ‘Everest Base Camp’ Trek Itinerary

Hello, fellow travelers, Sam here! I’m here to talk about the day-to-day itinerary of our trip to Everest Base Camp. Everest Base Camp has been on our bucket list for quite a while, but we were always nervous to pull the trigger because we were worried about the difficulty of trekking that many days in a row at altitudes that we were not accustomed to here in the States. After finally completing the trek, we can ‘saif’ly say it’s completely doable for anyone with a reasonable fitness level. It definitely was the most difficult thing we have done in our lifetime but it is achievable and certainly incredibly rewarding!

Everest Base Camp: Our Budget

After coming back from our amazing Everest Base Camp trip, Jackie and I had so many people say to us, “wow that must have been an expensive trip”. Well, the truth was, this was actually one of our most affordable trips we have done! Jackie and I love traveling, but what we love even more, is traveling in an affordable way. Being that we are not rich, by traveling this way, we are able to afford multiple trips a year. Our goal is to see the world and if we blew our entire budget on one trip, reaching our goal would be virtually impossible. Because we were able to do this trip so affordably, we thought it would be nice for us to share with you what and how we spent what we spent. Read on to learn how we afforded it and how you can too!

New York City’s Suburbia: Long Island – What To Do, See and Eat

About 45 minutes east of Manhattan, lies the suburbs of Long Island. Easily accessible from New York City by train, Long Island is a great addition to your New York City trip. It can either be done for just the day, or you can spend the night anywhere along the shores of this amazing island. Measuring 118 miles in length, Long Island is the largest and longest island in the continental United States, as well as the most populated island among any US state or territory! We proudly call this island home, so we’re so excited to give you a little glimpse of the ‘island life’ 😉 & really, what better way to get advice than from actual locals?

Our Ideal ‘Everest Base Camp Trek’ Packing List – Nepal

We’ll be taking a trip to Nepal in less than 2 weeks to do the Everest Base Camp trek!  Upon preparing for this exciting adventure, one of the most nerve-racking things we’ve come across is making sure we have everything we need. If you forget something important, it may not be available … or it could be really expensive, so we have broken down the list into 6 categories of what we think are the things you, the trekker, will need most. Since you are responsible for not only getting yourself up & down the mountain, but also your belongings as well, you are going to want to pack as light as possible. Additionally, the airplanes taking you to Lukla have strict weight limits due to their size, so you want to be sure as well that you don’t exceed that.

Take A Bite Out Of ‘The Big Apple’: Some Of The Best Things To Do In New York City!

So admittedly we’re a little biased toward New York City, because, well, this is the metropolitan area we call home … but even if we were not New Yorkers, we’d still think this city is the best! There is so much to see, do and eat here, that in all of our years in this area, we still have not done everything. (I am a native New Yorker and have called this place ‘home’ for a whopping 36 years! Sam has lived in various places in the country but spent a majority of his childhood here in NY and naturally couldn’t wait to come back)

So are you interested in coming to New York City yet? If so, read on to learn our recommendations of what we think are some of the best of what New York City has to offer.

Future Travels – Where In The World Are We Off To Next?

As you all may know, we have full-time jobs, so this limits us to really only visiting a few places a year, though we try to see as much as we can by combining multiple destinations on one trip and traveling around holidays where we are already off from work. Because of this, we thought it might be helpful to outline our upcoming travel so that you will know when and where we are going in the future. We will hopefully be updating this blog on a more ongoing basis as we book our travel (’cause you know, it’s not really real until it’s BOOKED)

San Diego: Beaches, Bikini’s & Burritos!

San Diego will always have a special place in our hearts mostly because Sam’s family lives there, he lived there for a while and because 3 months ago we said our ‘I-do’s’ in this beautiful place amongst 65 friends and family. If you haven’t had the privilege to visit this beautiful West Coast mecca, I suggest you do so as soon as possible!
