Two years ago I spent one week visiting Chile, the first few days before my visit to Easter Island via Santiago was spent in the south.
After arriving in Chile we flew down south to the most southern part of Chile in a town named Punta Arenas. This part of Chile is only about 500 miles from the Antarctic Peninsula, so it was very cold. We booked a boat tour that took us to a number of islands which hosted wildlife such as penguins, sea lions, and seals. Seeing hundreds of penguins up close was amazing. Unfortunately we were only allowed to disembark on the Penguin Island, not the island with the Seals so we were not able to get as close to them.

From Punta Arenas we took a bus north to Torres del Paine. We spent a full day hiking to Los Torres and back. The hike was difficult and long, but well worth the amazing beauty. I would definitely come back to Patagonia for a longer multi-day hiking experience, the views are like no other.

After our day hike in Patagonia we took the bus back to Punta Arenas for one more night before flying to Santiago. We also spent a full day in Santiago, before catching our flight to Easter Island (look out for my Easter Island Blog). My time in Patagonia was amazing even though short and spent mostly traveling to destinations. Hopefully I will get to return back. Thank you for stopping by and as always, Saif Travels!
